How PetSnap complies with the General Data Protection Regulation

At PetSnap, we are committed to ensuring the privacy and protection of your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This page outlines how we adhere to GDPR principles and what rights you have regarding your personal data.

1. Data Controller

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Right to Object to Processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
  • Rights Related to Automated Decision Making and Profiling: You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

4. International Data Transfers

PetSnap is based in the United States, and your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. For transfers of data from the European Economic Area (EEA) to countries not deemed to provide an adequate level of data protection by the European Commission, we have implemented appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to protect your personal data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data, and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, as well as applicable legal requirements.

6. Data Security

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk, including encryption of personal data, the ability to ensure ongoing confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of processing systems and services, the ability to restore the availability and access to personal data in a timely manner in the event of a physical or technical incident, and a process for regularly testing, assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of technical and organizational measures for ensuring the security of the processing.

7. Data Breach Notification

In the case of a personal data breach, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay and, where feasible, not later than 72 hours after having become aware of it, unless the breach is unlikely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, we will also communicate the personal data breach to you without undue delay.

8. Data Protection Impact Assessment

Where a type of processing, in particular using new technologies, is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, we will, prior to the processing, carry out an assessment of the impact of the envisaged processing operations on the protection of personal data.

9. Children's Data

Our Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
